Founded in 1961, Howard
County Citizens Association, Inc. is a non-partisan organization of concerned
Howard County residents and local leaders unified behind the principle that
local government works best when its citizens have a strong voice. Citizens must
be heard in decisions that affect their lives. Citizen participation is
vital!
In the 1960s, HCCA played an important role in the development of
Columbia and has continued this mission through to today.
HCCA has
participated in the formulation of all Howard County General Plans and the
Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance reviews.
It has testified before
county boards and elected officials through the years on all the major land use
matters, and education matters as well.
Through the years and continuing
today, HCCA has brought its members vital information to garner a greater
understanding of the issues facing our county and enable them to make informed
decisions for advocacy.
From time to time, HCCA works in coalition with
other organizations on a given issue.
